Three golfers from BruceGreySimcoe have made it to the final qualifier for a spot in the 2018 RBC Canadian Open.

G.W. King of Thornbury, Branson Ferrier and Terry O’Brien, both of Barrie, were among the 27 golfers who advanced after a Regional Qualifying event on Thursday (May 17) at Blue Springs Golf Club.

King shot 71 (-1) and finished in a tie for 11th, while Ferrier and O’Brien both shot 72 and tied for 20th.

They will tee it up July 23 at Heron Point Golf Links in Ancaster for a chance to earn an exemption into the Canadian Open, which will be held July 23-29 at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville.

The winner of the regional qualifier at Blue Springs was Nyasha Mauchaza, a Zimbabwe native, who posted a 6-under 66 and gets an automatic exemption for the Canadian Open.
