Ryan 6th at Canadian championship

Former Stone Tree golfer Austin Ryan shot a final-round 72 (even par) and finished tied for 6th at the Canadian University and College Championship.

He was the top player on his Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks team and had a four-day total of -4. He finished seven strokes back of individual winner Daniel Campbell of the University of Fraser Valley Cascades, who carded rounds of 69-69-68-71.

Ryan’s performance helped his Laurier team finish 10th with a +8 total.

The winning team was from Fraser Valley with a -26 total.
 
In last year’s University/College championship, held at Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club near Barrie, Ryan finished tied for 7th and his team second.

Ryan attended high school in the Owen Sound area and won several local championships before attending Wilfrid Laurier.
 
In the women’s competition at the University/College championship, Avril Li of the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds shot 72-71-69-72 to win the individual title. The Thunderbirds won the team competition as well with a +19 total.

The championship was held at Chilliwack Golf Club in British Columbia.
