BlackHorse
Men's Night

June 26th was the eighth Men’s night of the year at BlackHorse, and also Steak Night for June. Hard to beat good weather, great course conditions, a night of golf followed by a full steak dinner!
Dave Farrell took “A” flight with 22 points. Jeff Wilken and Glen Chaput were in second with 21. Andy McLelland, Roger Amelotte and Kent Schaefer had the skins. Ray Day was the winner in “B” with 18 points followed by Craig Crawford, Rob Fitzsimmons, Doug Harris and Mike Kittel, all with 17. There were no skins in “B”. George Armstrong and Andy Sande tied in “C” with 21 points. They shared the skins with Randy Alton. Closest to the pin winners were Ron Stanley, Glen Chaput, Andy McLelland and Jeff Wilken.

Senior Ryder Cup
On June 11,  eight golfers from BlackHorse travelled to Cambridge to compete in the Senior Ryder Cup. The competition was held at Whistle Bear Golf Club, and was a 2-man better ball event.
Whistle Bear came out on top, with BlackHorse in second place. Also competing was Galt Country Club and Seaforth Golf Club. 

Men’s Night
The 6th Men’s Night of the year at BlackHorse was held June 12.
Bill King was 1” away from a hole in one on 17 (but managed to make the birdie!). Bill won “A” by a stroke over Jeff Wilken, 23 to 22. Bill shared the skins with Blake Mackey. Dave Evans had a good round and won “B” with 22 points, one better than Ray Day. Bob Ogilvie and Noel MacIntosh had the skins in “B”. Randy Alton shot his best score yet for Men’s Night and won “C” with 23 points. Brian Astles was second with 21. Brian and Dave Plourde had the skins. Closest to the pin winners were Charlie Cleland, Bill King, Spencer Montgomery and Randy Alton.

Southampton
Men’s League
Southampton Men’s League teed it up on June 21 for the weekly competition on the front nine holes.  The field was divided into four flights based on the players’ handicaps, and over the day there were some very good round carded by the members.
 
In the A-flight, Louis Bezaire had the lowest round with a 40 and won First Low Gross.  John Hale and Paul Nugent tied for First Low Net in the flight with net scores of 35.  In the B-flight, Jimmie Baillie also had a great round of 40 and easily won First Low Gross amongst his competitors.  Terry Bailey won First Low Net with a net score of 34.
 
In the C-flight, Ron Wilson took First Low Gross with a fine round of  41, while Rod Chisholm won First Low Net with a net 35.  In the D-flight, Jim Norwood shot 44 and won First Low Gross while Pat Joynt and Eric Tait tied for First Low Net with net scores of 34.
 
Pau Nugent won the Closest to the Pin competition on the fifth hole and Terry Bailey made the Longest Putt on #7.
 
Senior Men’s Golf News
 
The Southampton Senior Men’s League is in full flight with increasing numbers of competitors each week taking part in the eighteen hole competition.  On June 19, John Hale, whose game has steadily improved this year, won First Low Gross in the A-flight with a fine round of 80.  Mike Pitzen was two strokes back with an 82 and won Second Low Gross.  Ron Wilson won First Low Net in the flight with a net 68, followed by Bill Hatt with a net 69.
 
In the B-flight, Barrie Robson and Gord Moore tied for First Low Gross with identical scores of 96.  Tom Bailey won First Low Net with a net score of 72, while Bill Streeter and Peter Welford tied for First Low Net with net scores of 73.
 
Mike Pitzen was Closest to the Pin on #5 and also made the Longest Putt on the ninth hole. 
 
On June 26, there were even better scores carded in the Senior Men’s League.  In the A-flight, Derryl Urstadt shot a fine round of 78 to win First Low Gross, followed by newcomer to the league, Bruce Towner with an 81.  Mike Pitzen won First Low Net with a net score of 70, one stroke ahead of Jimmie Baillie with a net 71.  
 
In the B-flight, Terry Bailey also had a great round of 78 and easily won First Low Gross in the flight. Charlie Schmalz won Second Low Gross with a 93.  Barry Dicks and Fabian Libbus tied for First Low Net in the flight with net scores of 69.  In the C-flight, Bill Hatt won First Low Gros with a score of 91, followed by Peter Welford with a 94.  Bill Streeter won First Low Net with a net score of 65, followed by Bill Thomson with a net 69.
 
Mike Pitzen won the Closest to the Pin competition on the fifth hole again this week and Pat Joynt won the Longest Putt contest on the seventh hole.
