Frook-Dixon win Better Ball qualifier at Cobble Beach


Owen Sound-area golfers Chris Frook and Josiah Dixon combined to shoot 67 (-5) in the rain May 1 to win the Ontario Men’s Better Ball qualifier at Cobble Beach Golf Links.

Their closest competitors were Tyler Cormier of OslerBrook G & CC and public player Tyson Turchanski  who shot 71 to grab the 2nd qualifying spot.

The third spot went to Jay Jewett and Matt Dummontelle of Timberwolf GC in Sudbury, who shot 73.

Finishing in the first alternate spot were Isaac Maxwell of Shelburne GC and Jordy Denomme of Whistle Bear GC who shot 73. The 2nd alternate spot went to the duo of Tim Vandolder (Cobble Beach) and Todd Gouett (Georgian Bay Club) who shot 74.

A highlight of the day was a hole-in-one on the 8th hole by Andrew Reid of Orangeville.

A qualifier was also held May 1 at another BruceGreySimcoe golf course - 
The Club at Bond Head northeast of Tottenham. The results were as follows:

The Ontario championship will be held May 11 at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Downsview.
