Emily Zhu of National Pines Golf Club near Barrie, Ont. had a strong finish at the World Junior Girls Golf Championship, shooting a one-under-par 71 and finishing tied for 46th.
With rounds of 82-78-80 on her first three days, the 14-year-old ended up with a +23 total.
She was competing as part of Canada 2 and her team finished
18th.
Italy won the team event with a playoff victory over the U.S.
The individual winner was Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand, who fired a course record 60 on Friday to secure the victory. Her other three rounds were 68-71-69 and she finished with a -20 total.
The top Canadian was Canada’s Céleste Dao, who shot rounds of 73-71-68-70 and finished fifth.
