It has been a long time - about 12 years, in fact - since BruceGreySimcoe has had a new golf course open.
So it’s exciting to see The Nest - a Doug Carrick design on Lake Simcoe - open for its first full season. A soft opening was held last season but now, with the clubhouse also open for business, golfers can get the full experience.
The Nest is part of a $1.5 billion 600-acre resort called Friday Harbour east of Barrie. The resort includes a 1,000-slip multiple canal docking area, boardwalk retail space and the master plan calls for up to 2,000 condos, townhouse, and hotel residences.
The golf course is semi-private and will be open for public play Monday to Thursday all day, before 11 a.m. on Fridays and after 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
The posted green fee rates (May 16-Sept. 30) are $115 for 18 holes, $60 for 9 holes and $70 for Twilight (after 4 p.m.).
