Hawk Ridge golfer ties for 13th

Cougar Collins after winning the 2020 Ontario Men's Amateur Championship.

 

Cougar Collins of TPC at Osprey Valley shot a final-round even-par 72 to clinch the Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship.

He finished with a -2 total and was two strokes better than second place finishers Robbie Latter of Credit Valley Golf and Country Club (74-68-69-77) and Thomas Giroux of The Club at North Halton (74-74-68-72).  


The top golfers from the BruceGreySimcoe region were Joe MacNeil of Hawk Ridge Golf Club near Orillia, who shot a final-round 76 and tied for 13th and Taylor Beckstead of Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club near Barrie, who shot 75 today and tied for 24th.
 

The cut was at +10 and missing by only two strokes were two golfers from the BruceGreySimcoe region - Braydon White of Tangle Creek G &CC (77-79) and Jacob Stoddart (83-73).

One stroke behind them was Barrie Country Club’s David Greenaway (78-79).

Also missing the cut were:

Andrew Nagle, Barrie CC (82-78)
Michael Ikejiani, Barrie CC (83-76)
Joshua Taylor, Vespra Hills Golf Club (89-79)

 

Jacob Robitaille of Midland Golf & Country Club shot 80 in his first round but failed to turn in a scorecard for the 2nd round.


Also missing the cut was former NHLer Mike Cammalleri, who carded two rounds of 81.


The championship was played at Otter Creek Golf Club in Otterville (near Tillsonburg).
