Simcoe County pro Drew Nesbitt birdied three of his last four holes but came up two shots short of making the cut at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
His second round 70 combined with his first round 73 left him at +1 and the cut was at -1.
Nesbitt, who Monday qualified for the event, had a +3 total when play was suspended yesterday due to darkness and he was forced to finish out his final three holes on Saturday morning.
He birdied two of the final three holes which combined with two other birdies gave him a 32 (-4) on his final 9 holes.
And despite missing the cut he finished ahead of 43 players, including fellow Canadians Adam Hadwin and Roger Sloan.
The only Canadian to make the cut was Corey Conners of Listowel, Ontario, who posted rounds of 71-66 and was tied for 29th.
The leader going into today’s round is Emiliano Grillo who shot is at -13 after rounds of 66-63.
