Only 16 golfers made cut at PGA of Canada Championship

Three local golfers miss cut

 

The three BruceGreySimcoe golfers competing in the  PGA Championship of Canada at Deer Ridge Golf Club in Kitchener had better second days but still missed the cut.

Thomas Keddy of OslerBrook Golf & Country Club near Collingwood was the best of the trio, shooting  79-72 and missing the cut by seven strokes.

Only 16 of the 71 players made the cut in this event, which now switches to a match play format to determine the champ.

G.W. King of the Academy at the Georgian Bay Club (GBC) shot 82-76 and GBC’s Gary Jeffrey carded rounds of 82-78.

Finishing tied at the top of the leaderboard were Wes Heffernan of Golf Canada Calgary Centre and Sonny Michaud of the Club de Golf La Tempete in Levis, Quebec.

The match play begins tomorrow morning.

Past champions of the event include Moe Norman, George Knudson, Danny King, Dave Levesque, Eric Laporte, Bryn Parry, Al Balding, Bob Panasik, Tim Clark, Lanny Wadkins, Jim Rutledge, Wilf Homenuik, Stan Leonard, Lee Trevino and Arnold Palmer.
