Shanty Bay golfer goes 72-69 at Canadian Open

Nesbitt misses cut by one stroke

It was close but in the end -3 wasn't enough to allow Drew Nesbitt to make the cut at the RBC Canadian Open.

The Shanty Bay Golf Club member carded rounds of 72-69 at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville but came up one stroke short of playing on the weekend.

He still ended up finishing ahead of 60 golfers, including Adam Hadwin, Mike Weir and Graeme McDowell, in the 156-player field.

He also finished tied with fellow Canadian David Hearn (69-72), a PGA Tour veteran who played his junior golf at Pike Lake Golf Centre near Mount Forest.

Nesbitt has been playing recently on the Great Lakes Tour and got into the tournament by shooting 66 at a Monday qualifier at Heron Point Golf Links near Hamilton.

The leader heading into today's round was U.S. golfer Martin Flores (66-66) who had a -12 total.
