Top golfer from area at Cdn. Women's championship

Kimberley Legge 29th in national event


Kimberley Legge of Paisley was the top golfer from BruceGreySimcoe during the Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur and Senior Championship.

She shot 87-82-84 and finished tied for 29th in the Seniors Division.

Kathie Houghton of the Georgian Bay Club near Thornbury went 92-82-90 and tied for 51st in the Senior division. She was also 14th in the Mid-Amateur division, 9th in the Mid-Master Division and tied for 17th in the Super Senior division.

Fellow GBC member Catherine Butler shot 90-89-85 and tied for 51st in Seniors.

Missing the cut were Blue Mountain Golf & CC members Rosemary Scott (102-95) and Ellenora Horton (96-94).

The winner was Australian Sue Wooster who shot 79-76-73 and won in a playoff over Mary Ann Hayward from St. Thomas, Ont.

The championship was played at Humber Valley Resort in Little Rapids, Newfoundland.
